Sponsor Hosting Issue

Postby crazy8 » Wed Mar 28, 2007 11:33 pm

I have some movie galleries on perfect gonzo sponsor hosting I'm trying to use as samples. Problem is, you can't download files from their hosting...it's upload only. So after clicking the duplicate link (with "upload galleries and recips" and "create duplicates on local drive" selected), here's the error CSPAR gives me:

RETR index.htm
550 index.htm: Permission denied

I guess I don't understand why CPAR is trying to retrieve files. I was under the impression it would take the local copies as specified on tab 2 then duplicate and upload the new samples.

So if I understand what's going on, I guess my only options would be to...

a) opt NOT to upload galleries and recips and instead locate and upload the samples manually.

b) re-upload the galleries in question to my regular server, update all the paths in tab 2 and finally repeat the process so CPAR can pull the index files from the server.

Are my assumptions correct? Thanks for your help!

I would suggest you to download those galleries and put it to your own domain. Then you can duplicate them.
It is bad idea to use sponsor hosted galleries for requesting partner accounts.
Sponsor hosted galleries (at least hosted at sponsor's domain) are not even listed at TGP sites except those with TGP owner's affiliate codes.

These are not sponsor hosted galleries; I'm using their freehost: http://perfectgonzo.com/i/promotools_freehost1.gif

I'm wondering...

a) why CPAR must access the remote index files when I've already specified the original, local copies

b) if the only way to use this domain for samples is to manually upload the duplicated files (since CPAR is trying to use the remote copy and failing to retrieve it)

Just to clarify...I am not trying to use FHG here.

Thanks...

Requester is conecting to FTP if you set the "Upload galleries and recips" checkbox in Step 5. Don't use this option if you wish to duplicate on local disk.

Ok thanks. So when "upload galleries and recips" and "create duplicates on local drive" are both selected, Chameleon will do the following?

a) duplicate samples server-side
AND
b) duplicate samples locally

...as opposed to what I thought was happening...

a) duplicate samples locally
b) upload the local copies to corresponding servers

Is that right? Don't mean to beat a dead horse; just trying to understand how CPAR completes this process so I understand the best workaround to use.

Thanks!

In this case it will duplicate on server and make copies at local disk to make sure no old files on server will be modified (it loads server's content and create new galleries using file names not found on server).
