Richards Realm PA export

Postby smutnut » Wed Nov 22, 2006 2:16 pm

I exported my accounts from PA today after updating both submitter and requestor and one of the sites that remained highlighted after export was Richards Realm.

I could have sworn I read something about it not being exported it didn't exist. What else might have happened because I wasn't paying close attention?

Thanks

During export, sites are identified by their main URL's and Richards Realm has currently a different main page set in the submitter. Sorry for the mistake, it will be fixed within next 2 or 3 hours.

No problem. I was just considering getting another paid partner account with them so making sure there was no problem.

But since we're on the subject. How does this affect partner accounts not so notable?

Does submitter mess with approved partner accounts when you export such as deleting them or updating them and if so does it automatically correct the mistake within submitter along with the update in requestor...

I think I'm thinking about your compare database function, but not sure how this works exactly or if it can be undone once you commit the function

Thanks again

If there is something that has to be changed (updated/added/deleted) in both databases we do change it in both databases. If there is a change needed which doesn't affect settings in another database then it's only updated in 1 database.
For example, if a site has started to accept movie galleries then it's updated in both databases because the change affects both gallery submissions as well as new PA requests.
But if that site has temporarily closed its partner request form only (while it's still accepting new gallery submissions from the current partners) then it's only updated in the PA requester.
Hope you see what I mean ;)

Anyway, when you update the database in the submitter it doesn't make any changes to the database in the requester (and vice versa). The databases are independent so if you wish to update them both then you need to update them separately.

'Compare Accounts' just lets you know about the number of active partner sites in the submitter (so of those in which you have a partner account set) and automatically highlights their rows in the PA requester - so you can see whether you have all of them set in the PA requester or if some of them are missing etc. It doesn't make any change to your settings, anyway... so there is nothing to undone.

Maybe I should post here few hints to help you to use the features better ;)

If you already have some accounts set in the submitter, let's say before your first use of the PA requester, click on the Import Accounts button (in CPAR > Step 3) to import them into the requester. Apart from importing your login info their status will be changed to Approved what also means that these sites will automatically be skipped from generating in the requester (there's no need to apply for new partner accounts if you're already approved).
Once they are imported do the rest (generate new sites, request, etc.)

Use the Export Accounts button when you wish to export your partner accounts set in the PA requester to the submitter - either all of them (leave all rows unselected in Step 3) or only the selected ones.

If you are not sure how that exactly works I do recommend you to try that out on some selected sites - e.g. select 2 of them and hit Import or Export etc.. and check their settings in the submitter as well...

Also, don't forget to check the Help files included in both softwares (Help menu > Help) as well as the interactive tutorials available on http://www.chameleonsubmitter.com/tutorials.php
