550 No such directory

Postby Smitty » Wed Nov 24, 2010 3:33 am

i'm trying to use Requester ftp options, domain tab, i imported them from CS

here's the setup on the ftp: i don't have access to the root, i basically land in ftpserver.com/promo (that is my root when i log in)

i can see everything under promo, not above it, not the root of the server.

So the recips are in /promo/recips
webair said they might be able to have recips at same level as /promo but i'd need to use a different login for it.

Submitter can "hide" that /promo folder (its not perfect for recips but it works) so i can work with it.

But requester complains about it not found when logging in and logs me out of the server right away with error:

220-system consents to these terms.
220-
220
USER <hidden>
331 User <hidden> okay, need password.
PASS <hidden>
230-You are user #2 of 50 simultaneous users allowed.
230-
230 Restricted user logged in.
TYPE I
200 Type okay.
CWD /promo/tgp/jeans/
550 No such directory.
QUIT
221 Goodbye.

i think requester assumes i have access to the root on the ftp when i log in. but the ftp admin has it set up so i can't have access to the root, only what's in /promo.

any ideas ?
cheers,

You might try to use /promo in the initial server directory but I am not sure if this would help. If needed, you can also use any other FTP tool to upload your galleries/recips - in that case fill out URL of Recips / Local Folder in the Domain options and in the Duplicate step uncheck Upload Galleries and Recips / check Create duplicates on local drive.

>You might try to use /promo in the initial server directory
it only makes the recips url /promo/promo/recips/

>any other FTP tool to upload your galleries/recips

i used fillezilla, but its not exactly easy to know which files to upload and where, the galleries are mixed in with submitter's galleries in the same folder.

but one thing i thought of is asking webair to make another folder as my root somewhere than the real root of the ftp
and assign it as my home/root, then make an alias or shortcut to /promo

that way the programs will see promo as a subfolder rather than my home.

i figure it is possible in filezilla server, i just hope its possible for webair too.

update: i asked the owner of the servers to contact their host and ask for a simlink, symbolic link to the "promo" folder.

basically all you have to do is assign another "home" or "root" to the login ,
then make a simlink in the new root and that will let the programs work as they should.

now the work flow is much better too.

hope this helps,
